Jun 16

Here are the Filipino films to look forward to this coming Christmas 2012! The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has unleashed the list of MMFF 2012 Entries which are set to grace the big screen for the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival on December 25, 2012.

The Magic 8 entries is composed of a historical drama film, a Conyotic Comedy, A Nostalgic Fantasy Remake, A Foursome Romantic Sexy Drama, An exciting solely-directed Horror Trilogy, A tired and shameless commercial film installment, an odd sisterly comedy and a teenage horror film! All these will be competing on 25 different categories which includes the most coveted title “BEST PICTURE” at MMFF 2012.

Check out the official list of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2012 entries. . .

What it should have been. (Our List)

  1.  Thy Womb
  2. Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang
  3. The Strangers – Sounds like a good horror film!
  4. Tuhog – Seriously? How can there be NO Eugene Domingo in this year’s MMFF?
  5. Shake, Rattle and Roll 14
  6. One More Try
  7. Conyo Problems
  8. El Presidente
mmff 2012

A few (maybe important) additional notes:

Conyo Problems – Ohh..a movie about Conyos! People on top of the social hierarchy who are fond of using Taglish as their official language. The theme sounds interesting since we are living in a world full of equally funny and annoying Conyo people. But there might be a problem with the casting. I don’t want to worry about their ticketsales but from an audience standpoint,  no offense, but these actors are hardly known? And seriously? Aljur Abrenica?  Remember Temptation Island? He struggled delivering some of his lines which were written in English. It’s not that I hate the guy or anything, but Conyo Problems is the kind of project which might boast of powerful lines and dialogues. And with Abrenica on board, I don’t know, he might have the tendency to ruin a well-written script. He can just be the muscle! LOL

El Presidente – She is definitely back! While I’m not a die-hard fan of the great Nora Aunor as I have not watched any of her films except maybe for some which parts I’ve chanced upon on cable. I’m excited to see Ate Guy’s movie comeback! :-)

Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang – It’s been years since a local fantasy adventure film aroused the fantast within me. And hearing about the making of “Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang” for the first time now! Makes my heart leap up to the heavens and my lungs screaming out of too much excitement. Director Mark Meily and Chris Martinez will be at helm for this project! A joint of two Filipino film geniuses. I smell – EPIC! Hopefully. :-)

One More Try – The story of this film is a work in progress and no details were hinted during interviews for the film. It’s one of those movies that excites you because of its cast. Here we have Two Angels, a doorbell and abs!

SRR 14 - You should know that I will forever be excited of Shake Rattle and Roll. Most especially now that it’s directed by one director! The episodes might just be connected to each other. :-D

Si Agimat, Si Enteng & Me – Putangina! Who the hell is ME?? (facepalm)

Sisteraka – From the title, it sounds like Kris Aquino and Vice Ganda will be SisterRAKAS! (Ohww..yeah baby that’s rockahs as in rockers!) The team up is quite interesting and with Deramas on the director’s seat it’s a good deal for mindless Christmas Entertainment – but the story? Maybe it’s best not to expect for a story with substance. Remember, it’s a Deramas film.

The Strangers - Here’s a relief for all of Kris Aquino’s MMFF horror entries. Enrique Gil, Enchong Dee, Julia Montes and directed by Lawrence Fajardo (Amok)?? Ohh..Quantum Films take my money now. :-D

Lastly, the new wave or indie section of the Metro Manila Film Festival which started two years ago will still push through but now spearheaded by the New chairman of the New Wave Section, Ms. Digna Santiago.

By the way, we created a Facebook poll to know which one you’re surely gonna watch! (Click Here to Vote)

Are you excited for MMFF 2012?
